One Body
Welcome to Monticello Baptist Church online! We’re grateful you’re worshiping with us today for a special Sunday as we celebrate believers’ baptism and share in the Lord’s Supper together.
This morning, we have the joy of watching two of our students follow the Lord in believer’s baptism. Baptism is a beautiful picture of our identification with Jesus Christ—His death, burial, and resurrection—and a public declaration of the new life we have received through Him.
Later in the service, Pastor David Artessa will share a special abbreviated message titled “One Body” from 1 Corinthians 10:16–17 and 11:17–29. As Paul writes to the church in Corinth about the Lord’s Supper, he reminds them that the gospel not only brings us into fellowship with Christ—it brings us into fellowship with one another. Though we are many, in Christ we have been made one body.
We’ll conclude our time around the Lord’s Table, remembering together the body of Christ given and the blood of Christ shed for us. As we celebrate baptism and Communion on the same morning, we are reminded of the grace that saves us, the Savior who unites us, and the relationships we share as the family of God. Because we belong to Christ, we belong to one another.
