The Funeral Service for Evelyn Josephine Lowery Moore

 Evelyn Josephine Lowery Moore, age 91, originally from of Monticello, passed away peacefully Friday,October 31, 2025, in Griffin, Georgia.


Evelyn Moore was born on October 17, 1934 in Jasper County, to the late Wilburn Lowery and Elise Dooley Lowery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Jackson and Thomas Harold Moore; and sisters, Pauline “Polly” Lowery Chapman and Brenda Lowery Brooks.  


Evelyn grew up in the Prospect community before she moved to Monticello and graduated from Monticello High School (now Thomas Persons Hall). There were only eleven grades her graduation year. After graduation, she went right to work for Monticello Manufacturing, (later known as Oxford Industries), where she worked for over forty years. After retiring she worked for the Jasper County Board of Education for around ten years and was lovingly known as the “Copy Lady”. She also worked as an election worker for the Jasper County voter registration. 


She was a member of the Monticello Baptist Church for over sixty-five years.


She is survived by her son, Edward (Norma) Greenwood of Barnesville and daughter, Karen (Glenn) Wilson of Jackson; grandchildren, Stephen Garner (Sharon) of Griffin, Kevin Garner (Stephanie) of Jackson, and Stephen Greenwood of Savannah; and great-grandchildren, Kylie Garner (Justin) of McDonough, Kolton Garner of Perry and Carsen Garner of Perry.


The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Monday, November 3, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Monticello Baptist Church. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Rev. David Artessa and Dr. Bob Whitmire will officiate.


Serving as pallbearers will be, Stephen Garner, Kevin Garner, Stephen Greenwood, Kolton Garner, Weston Wallace, Jacob Fletcher, Tyler Mason, Josh Mattison, Landon Alexander and Justin Connelly.
