The Funeral Service for Lynda Sprayberry

 Lynda Polk Sprayberry, age 74, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 14, 2025, surrounded by her family.


Lynda was born on September 18, 1950, to the late Linus and Sara Stevens Polk. She was a lifelong resident of Monticello where she attended Jasper County High School. She worked for the Department of Family and Children Services for thirty-one years. After retiring, she continued to serve her community as a pharmacy tech at Monticello Drugs as her passion was helping the elderly. Lynda was a member of Monticello Baptist Church.


In addition to her parents, Lynda was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Laverne Sprayberry.


Lynda was married to her devoted husband, Don, for forty-two years. During their early years of marriage, they ran a dairy farm. Together they also raised four children, Christy Leggett of Athens, Robb (Marista) Leggett of Monticello, Leigh Leggett of Athens, and John Sprayberry of Monticello. Lynda’s favorite title was “Nana”. She leaves behind six grandchildren, Ashton Crocker, Kaitlin Brooks, Zeke Bell, Silas Bell, Lucas Sprayberry, and Izzy Sprayberry; and six great grandchildren, Sara Grace Crocker, Elijah Black, Joshua Crocker, Sadie Crocker, Ava Jade Brooks, and Brynleigh Link. In addition to her family, Lynda also leaves behind her lifelong best friend, Martha Artessa, who she referred to as her sister.


In her adolescence, Lynda enjoyed playing softball and basketball. She spent years coaching softball for the Raiders at the Jasper Country Recreational Department. Lynda loved Georgia Bulldog football and enjoyed taking road trips. She could often be found with her husband riding back roads in Jasper County.


Lynda’s greatest love was her family. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing stories and bragging about those she loved the most.


Funeral services will be held at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Monticello Baptist Church. Interment will be a private family affair at the Sprayberry Family Cemetery.  Rev. David Artessa will officiate.


Serving as pallbearers will be Robb Leggett, Mike Farmer, Brad Klepsig, Hunter Pope, Mitchell Brackett, David Link, Than Crocker and Dave Artessa.


The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M., Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Monticello Baptist Church.
