The Fall: What Went Wrong
Welcome to Monticello Baptist Church online! We’re grateful you’re worshiping with us today as we continue our series, TRUTH: Living with a Biblical Worldview.
This Sunday, Pastor David Artessa will bring a message titled “The Fall: What Went Wrong” from Genesis 3:1–19. Over the last several weeks, we’ve explored God’s good design for creation, humanity, and truth itself. But Genesis 3 answers the question we all eventually ask: If God’s design was good, then why does the world feel so broken?
In this foundational passage, we see how sin entered the world through distrust in God’s Word and rebellion against His design. Shame replaces innocence. Fear replaces peace. Humanity begins hiding from God, blaming others, and trying to cover what only God can redeem. And Genesis 3 reminds us that sin doesn’t just affect behavior—it distorts how we see God, ourselves, and the world around us.
But even in the middle of humanity’s rebellion, God responds with grace. From the very beginning, Scripture points forward to the coming of Jesus Christ—the One who would ultimately crush sin, defeat death, and bring redemption to broken people.
As we worship together through song, prayer, and the preaching of God’s Word, our prayer is that this service will not only help us understand what is wrong with the world, but also point us to the Savior our world desperately needs.
