Identity: Who Am I?

Welcome to Monticello Baptist Church online! We’re grateful you’re worshiping with us today as we continue our series, TRUTH: Living with a Biblical Worldview.

One of the oldest and most important questions every person asks is, "Who am I?" Our culture encourages us to create our own identity, define ourselves by our achievements, or discover who we are by looking within. But God's Word points us in a very different direction.

This Sunday, Pastor David Artessa will be preaching a message titled “Identity: Who Am I?” from Genesis 1:26–27 and Colossians 3:1–4. Together, we'll discover that our identity is not self-defined or culture-shaped, but given by God and secured in Christ. Before Adam accomplished anything, God declared who he was. And through Jesus Christ, those who trust in Him find an identity that cannot be shaken by success or failure, acceptance or rejection, circumstances or culture.

In a world searching for significance and belonging, the gospel reminds us that our worth is not found in what we do, what we own, or what others think of us. Our true identity is found in the One who created us, redeemed us, and calls us His own.

As we worship together through song, prayer, and the preaching of God's Word, our prayer is that you will be encouraged to find your confidence not in the shifting foundations of this world, but in the unchanging love and faithfulness of Jesus Christ.
