Our Team

David joined the staff at MBC in November of 2015 as the Student Pastor. He was later called to be the Pastor of MBC on July 23, 2017. He is a lifelong resident of Monticello and a 2002 graduate of Piedmont Academy. He and his wife, Johna, have two children, Ella and Luca. David is a diehard sports fan - GO Dawgs! He is passionate about communicating God's Word, impacting the next generation for Jesus, and ministering to everyone in his hometown.

Josh joined the MBC staff as our Student Minister on January 8, 2023. He was born into a Christian family to John Jr. and Christa; his father and grandfather are Baptist preachers. Josh is the middle of five siblings (John III, Jake, Ellie, and Joe) and is a 2019 graduate of Gatewood School in Eatonton, GA. Josh grew up hearing the Gospel and was exposed to the Bible at an early age, but his life changed as a freshman in high school when he gave his life to Christ. While going into ministry wasn't Josh's plan, the Lord made his call clear, and ministry became a part of his passion. Josh is currently working on his Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Luther Rice College and Seminary. He also recently married his wife, Carin, in May 2024, and they enjoy living in Monticello.

Nancy Mitchell is the Weekday Preschool Director. She was employed by MBC in 1999 when the preschool program began. She has worked with young children for the past 30+ years. Nancy is from Stone Mountain, Georgia. She has been active in MBC since moving to Monticello in 1992. She has worked with the children’s ministry organizing VBS, camp, Mission Groups and other activities for children. Nancy has 2 children, Emily and Bradley, and 2 grandchildren, Ryn and Mason.

Amy Scroggs has been a lifelong member of Monticello Baptist Church and has worked with all aspects of music. She currently serves as music director, choir director, and organist. She is married to Gary Scroggs, who is a deacon, and they have two children, Allison and Garrett. He is married to Matti and they have a beautiful baby girl, Josie James. Amy is a business teacher at Jasper County High School where she serves as Department Chair for the Career, Technical and Agricultural Education Department. When not working at school or church, Amy enjoys spending time with her family and supporting the students in the community.

Danna Parrish joined our staff in September of 2010 and has been a member of Monticello Baptist for 19 years. She is married to Jon Parrish, who is a deacon and teaches the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade Sunday School class. They have three children: Shelby, Jacob, and Jenna. Danna is a graduate of the University of Georgia. She previously worked in the Jasper County School system for 5 years as a Family Services Coordinator. Danna enjoys playing softball, reading, and attending her children’s school and sports events.

Christy joined our staff in July of 2019. She is married to Chris Baker, who is the Director of Information Technology at Morgan County Schools. They have two children, Clayton and Carly. Christy is a graduate of Dekalb Technical College, and she has worked part-time at Georgia Piedmont Technical College for 19 years. Christy enjoys going to the beach, reading, and spending time with her family.
